Convoy Wins “Deal of the Year” at 2019 GeekWire Awards

Awards & Recognition, Convoy NewsPublished on May 4, 2019

Seattle may be best known for the Space Needle and rain, but now it’s safe to say the Emerald City is officially on the map for startups as well. For evidence, look no further than the tech titans nominated and honored at last night’s GeekWire Awards, an annual celebration of the Seattle tech community’s best and brightest.

We’re honored to take home the award for GeekWire’s “Deal of the Year” for our $185M series C funding, led by Alphabet’s CapitalG.

“Our latest round of funding has fueled Convoy’s hypergrowth and enabled our business to evolve beyond freight matching,” said Grant Goodale, Convoy’s CTO. “We’re inventing new ways to solve more of the core problems facing shippers and carriers alike.”

Startups in Washington raised $2 billion in venture capital across 175 deals in 2018, the most capital since 2000. According to GeekWire, the nominees for this year’s “Deal of the Year” accounted for nearly 20 percent of that.

“If you think it’s impossible to build a really big, impactful company here in Seattle, there are several counterexamples here tonight,” Goodale said as he pointed behind him to the names of the four other nominees. “Seattle is on the startup map, and we’re proud to be part of it.”

This was the third year in a row Convoy was recognized by the voters in Seattle’s tech community. In 2018, Convoy won “Tech Titan of the Year.” In 2017, we won the coveted “Startup of the Year” award.

Congratulations to the winners and nominees of the awards! And, thank you to GeekWire for putting on an incredible celebration. We are thrilled to be part of it, and part of the Seattle tech community.
