2020 In Review: Features & Programs That Enable Carriers to Earn More With Less Hassle

CarriersPublished on February 4, 2021

In 2020, Convoy unveiled new features, products and partnerships, all with the singular focus of helping carriers in our network earn more with hassle. Learn more about each below:

Hassle-free lumper payments

We kicked off 2020 by introducing a industry’s first feature for carriers: hassle-free lumper payments via EFS (Electronic Funds Source) integration in the Convoy’s mobile app. With this feature, carriers can request and receive lumper payment codes immediately, with just a few taps on their mobile device – eliminating the time-consuming phone calls. To-date, this feature has surpassed 80% utilization and has saved carriers over 6,000 hours of unnecessary phone calls.

Goodyear Partnership

With carriers driving longer and wearing down their tires faster than ever – Convoy and Goodyear partnered to offer online tire discounts and no-occurrence fee roadside assistance for carriers in our nationwide network. This ensures owner operators and small fleets can access discounts on all Goodyear Commercial truck tires and quickly address any tire issues they encounter on the road with FleetHQ roadside assistance available 24/7.

Motive (formerly KeepTruckin) Integration

To provide additional visibility and eliminate the need for additional driver check-in calls, Convoy integrated with Motive’s freight visibility API to access location data for en-route shipments—generated by consenting carriers in our network who use Motive’s Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs). Carriers have total control and must consent for their data to be shared between Motive and Convoy.

Dedicated Freight

Convoy offers dedicated freight to every owner-operator and small fleet carrier in our network to ensure they have equal access to predictable work and income. Carriers can bid on dedicated freight contracts directly in Convoy mobile app, reducing time spent securing individual loads enabling carriers to focus on driving and generating income. Dedicated freight offers carriers guaranteed revenue with consistent work hauling the same shipment along the same route.

Factoring & fuel card

Convoy Factoring, powered by Apex Capital, is a payment service for carriers that provides same or next day payment, with no hidden fees and no lock-in contracts. Qualified carriers have access to immediate payment, at a rate of 0% with QuickPay for Convoy loads and 1% – 2.99% with factoring for non-Convoy loads. The Convoy fuel card helps address the single biggest cost to carriers on the road. With our fuel card, carriers save an average of 68 cents per gallon (based on actual in-network client transactions for Q4 of 2022), 2x better than the industry average. This can add up to $6,500 per truck back in carriers’ pockets each year.

TruckYeah Savings

Convoy’s TruckYeah Savings program offers carriers in our network unmatched savings of up to $35,000 per truck per year on their biggest expenses. The TruckYeah Savings program is focused on helping carriers keep more of their income by providing exclusive savings on their significant operating costs, including ELDs, equipment, factoring, fuel, maintenance, tires, and more.

New App Features

In September 2020, we unveiled four new app features, including location tracking self-diagnostics, multi-page document uploading, statewide search, and swipe to book. All of these features were developed from carrier feedback and are designed to help carriers find, book and haul loads as easily as possible.

Map Search & Job Management on Carrier Web

Located on the Offers page, the map search provides carriers with a bird’s eye view of high load density areas, indicated by larger dots, and darker shades of red signaling where Convoy is paying above-market average rates. To provide a better jobs organization and search experience, the My Jobs page was updated to focus on upcoming and active jobs the carrier has booked. All of the loads are now organized by date to make it easier to find and manage loads.

AscendTMS Integration

To help carriers efficiently find and book loads that keep their trucks full and earning, Convoy integrated with AscendTMS. By combining the powerful business tools of AscendTMS and load recommendations from Convoy, the nation’s most efficient digital freight network, carriers can now optimize their schedules from within the tools they already use to run their business.
